Melanie Dizon

The Poppy - The picture of beauty in a bag and the very first one I actually caved into and bought for myself;) I now only have 1 of each of Melanie’s bags, so if you see something you like, waste NO time.
The Sugar - easiest ‘night out’ clutch you’ll find - super cute and supple to boot… what could be easier and more fun than a slender clutch attached to a bracelet that ensures you never really have to carry a thing all night long and into the morning!
The Sonyas - Tall totes perfect for beach bound city dwellers. Will fit a towel, your favorite book, your sunscreen and everything else you might need all with the highest level of style!
The Nor - I hadn’t planned on bring in another feel, but when I saw these, I fell in love! Grey suede with soft silver leather accents. An ankle strap to keep the shoe close to your foot for a summer night on the town!
The Brigida and The Carly - super comfy summer sandals - in crocheted black and soft gold shimmer

Rabeanco bags
The richness of these bags continues to astound me - and the leather… SO soft.

NOW LISTENING: Jesse Harris - Feel (new album out in June! It’s awesome - put it on your list:))
Last night was the very first in what I hope will be a long-lasting series of Jewelry classes here at Clarabella. Nicole Gagne, of Leoworks, arrived with work table and folding chairs in hand and set up right in the front room. Last night’s class was small, but I would imagine they will grow over time. We generated quite a bit of a attention from passersby;). The class included basic wiring techniques and instruction on how to create two different types of earrings. All materials were included as were flat and round nosed pliers and a set of clippers to take home. I first met Nicole when I took her jewelry class about a year ago. She is a fantastic and patient instructor I’m never seen anyone leave a class of hers without a huge smile! Elena was the first student last night and she was no exception;). See below for a few photos from the evening. Click here to view the whole set (only 9 photos…)
Please email me if you’re interested in signing up for future classes. Rather than setting a date now, we’ll be taking names and then working with schedules to find the best possible day. As mentioned before, classes are $100/person which includes all materials, 2 hours of instruction, and a take home plier kit. There will be more to come - Nicole and I have some new and exciting ideas for these classes over the summer!
To quote an oldie but goody “Blue skies, shining above, nothing but blue skies from now on”. I know that the days in NY won’t always be like today, but honestly, to say that it’s a stunning New York day today would be a huge understatement. There are no clouds in the sky, which is an unbelievable shade of blue. It’s about 75 degrees and there is a breeze that blows ever so slightly… just enough to give you the illusion of fresh air in the city;).
Today was another great day for a walk. I got a chance to catch up with my mom and step-dad, who are currently in Bermuda, and then blasted Alice Smith’s album for the walk over the bridge. I’ve posted a few more photos for your viewing pleasure;). They were all taken on my walk to the shop this morning and can be seen here. I make no claims about being any kind of photographer at all. I know nothing about shutter speeds, proper lighting or framing, or how to set up the perfect composition. I do, however, know what I like and if something strikes me, I’ll post it;).
I got a special delivery today as well! New rings and bracelets from Marcia Moran!! I’m so thrilled - they are absolutely stunning. I’m still in the process of entering them into my system and figuring out the best type of display, but as soon as I’ve got that figured out, I’ll post a few photos as well. As usual, the best thing to do is to just come by and see me!
Okay - I’m sure I’ll be posting again later. This is not the last you’ll hear from me today. And if you’re reading this and you’re in New York, please please please shut your computer down and go outside. You’ll thank me, I promise;).
[The quote above is taken from an old tune called “Blue Skies”. My favorite version is done by Ella Fitzgerald and can be found on a number of her compilations available on Verve Records.]
Hi Men:)
I know you’ve been in the shop as well and some of you may have been saddened by the obvious lack of men’s items. Right now I’ve got 3 belt styles, 3 sets of cufflinks, 3 leather wristband styles and that’s it… despicable, I know. I had concrete rings, but they all sold. I will be getting more of those in soon - I promise!
In the meantime, this is a call for help! I need your feedback!
What would you like to see for you at Clarabella?
Do you wear rings?
Are there any particular designers that you’re partial to?
Would you come by to see me and might you buy a Belt/Wallet/Ring/Pocket Watch/Man Bag?
I’m looking into new designers and want to make you all happy, so any information that you can send my way would be greatly appreciated. I love the world of accessories, but am less schooled in the ‘for men’ area;).
just a little something I thought you might all like to know!
I just placed a new order for Mariana sandals - the Samantha heel. If you’ve been waiting for your size in Red or Indigo, they should be in this week! As for the Madisons (the low heel), I’m still hoping for a late June delivery on the Eggplant, Black and Cognac. I’ll keep you posted… As for now, all Madisons are sold out!
I also placed an order for new bags from Melanie Dizon, new jewelry from By Boe, Silver Distressed Clutches from Tracey Tanner, and a new line of bags from Nam Kim. I’m hoping to have it all in within the next 2 weeks, which means that I’ll be adding a TON of merchandise:). What I’m saying is, even if you were here recently, make plans to come back soon as the goods are forever changing and expanding!

It’s slow today and I’m taking a break from re-orders to have a little hello with you;)
There is something about holiday weekends that makes most city-dwellers want to flee the land of soot and grime and head for greener pastures or blue coastlines. Most of my ‘crew’ did just that this weekend, fleeing to spots as close as close as the Jersey shore and as far away as Seattle and London. As a result, it’s been a rather mellow weekend for me which has given me a chance to catch up on some work and also to walk to work every day;). It’s only about 2 1/4 miles, so it’s not so bad, but just enough to keep a girl moving. I’d like to say that I used my at home time to clean my apartment, but alas, it seems there is always something better to do. One of these days, I’ll bring my camera with me to share my morning walk with you. It’s full of things like graffitied walls, hip brunch spots, young families, Spanish markets, and a very long bridge with a never-ending incline. There was a period of time over the winter that I took my camera with me on runs - I actually got some interesting photos. Just for amusement purposes, I’ve uploaded a few to the Clarabella photo site. You can view them here if the mood strikes you. Think of it as your very own little tour of the wonders of Williamsburg without ever having to leave the comforts of your own home;). (COMING IN THE NEXT HALF HOUR!)
In other news, I’ve just signed up for the NYC 1/2 Marathon presented by Nike. I ran it last year with my cousin. It was a first for both of us and unbelievably exhilarating. I wanted to run again this year and didn’t make the cut for the lottery, so I’m doing something even better: I’m running with Fred’s Team. I’ll be raising $$ for Cancer Research and going the whole 13.2 miles in memory of my grandmother and my aunt who both lost their lives far too early to ovarian and colon cancer. I understand that not everyone likes to donate in this way, but figured I’d give you the opportunity here anyway;). No donation is too small! Click here to see my race site and help me along;). If you would indeed like to make a donation, make sure to fill out my name on the donation form. It’s taking a while for my changes to the site to register, but I promise a personal note from me will appear up there soon in addition to a mildly amusing photo of Tara and I from last year;).
That’s all for now folks - I hope that you’ve all enjoyed your Sunday:)

Clarabella presents BUILDINGS by Shaun Kardinal:
In addition to all that, I’ve got a new exhibit page up for Shaun Kardinal, whose very first NYC show hits Clarabella’s walls on Friday, June 1. Check out his page! I clocked some serious time pitching the exhibit out to different publications - I’m hoping for listings, listings, and more listings, so keep your fingers crossed. Today’s pitching went to Artkrush, Artcal, Time Out New York, AM New York, Manhattan Users Guide and the Village Voice. I’m still going to pitch out to blogs as well, but if any of you artistes out there have any suggestions, don’t be shy - step right up and let me know;).
NEW ART FOR SALE?: (and display)
I’m working on a few ideas with NYC based artist, Michael Paige Glover. That’s all I can tell you right now, but trust me… it’s going to be good!
I’m hoping to start selling small pieces and handmade cards by NYC artist Andrea Peterson. Details are still in negotiation, but the pieces would be separate from my regular art display.
I know you’ve all been waiting with bated breath for these… Well, they are finally here;). Photos from the biggest event Houston Street has seen all week. That’s right… all week!
Grand Opening Party Pictures
Hope you’re all having a fabulous weekend. I’ve got all sorts of goodies for you, so stay tuned for news on new designers, sales, and other Clarabella goodies.
xx
