Good Evening everyone and happy Saturday! It’s a gorgeous night here in NYC and I hope it is wherever you are as well. I’ve already told you all about the photo shoot and have sung the praises of photographer Eric Laurits and now I’m finally giving you a peek at the final shots from the photoshoot. I posted a few of these on the site already, but now you can see the whole run. It’s more photos of me than I’d normally share, but in addition to getting shots of the shop, I also needed a good press shot. So, here it is! The black and white image toward the end of the set - looking in at the shop through the front window - will be the new home page image. Stay tuned for that change next week!
Have a good night all and I’ll see you soon;)

Hey all - happy Friday!
Back in my music biz days, I had the pleasure of working with some amazing folks over at Filter. If you’re not familiar, go check them out. They’ve got an amazing music magazine, are a force to be reckoned with for music marketing and always know who you should be listening to and when. I’ve been lucky enough to stay in touch since I opened up shop and will host my first (hopefully of many) Filter event on Tuesday, October 10th. PJ Harvey’s newest record, White Chalk, hits stores on October 2nd. We’ll have it here for you to check out (though you’ll have to head to your local music shop to buy it) along with wine, snacks and a storewide 10% discount. Honestly, whatever could be better than great music, shopping and cocktails. Sums up a great night in my world;). Hope to see you here!!
[In the meantime, check out this site to hear a few sample tracks from the album!]
With all the running around this week, I forgot to mention that we got a listing for the Lower East Side Shop Night in the Girlie Girl newsletter! Click here and then click on newsletter. Don’t forget to subscribe while you’re there - it’s a great update and Chloe knows what’s up in this city!!
An amazing thing has happened today… with all of this press and the excitement about tonight’s event, this little website of mine has gotten more than 1,000 hits! I think that’s a record for me. My handy dandy little stat counter (for your very own, click here) tells me that a lot of that traffic is coming from Shecky’s! At first I thought it had to be a listing for the Lower East Side Shop Night, but no… it’s just about new shops and Clarabella is one of those featured! Click here to check out the story online, or scroll down for the text. Thanks Shecky’s!!!

Clarabella
279 E. Houston St. (Clinton & Suffolk Sts.)
Lower East Side 212.979.0270
This cozy store doubles as an art gallery selling an assortment of jewelry, accessories, shoes, and art. Owner Erin Whelan stocks her store with hard-to-find designers such as Tashkent by Cheyenne, Mariana, Andrea Brueckner, Judith Haas, and Crystalyn Kae. Make sure you have some time on your hands because Whelan is very informative (she knows each designer personally) and loves to chat!
On Tuesday, I had the pleasure of meeting Jessica Nash of Aurbeautica. She happened upon the store, tried on some shoes and then told me about her Soho salon, Aurbeautica. I checked the site out and was immediately intrigued. We talked for a while and she mentioned a new promotion she’s working on that offers a deal on salon services for a limited time. She came by the shop again today to drop off the fliers and mentioned two new pieces of press to check out. She’s recently been written up in NY Mag and Beauty Maverick! This spot is definitely worth checking out. It’s getting rave reviews and Jessica is fantastic. I’ll be heading over there sometime soon and will tell you all about it! In the meantime, buy something tonight at the shop night here at Clarabella and get $45 off any service at Aurbeautica! Yet another reason to come on down;). See you tonight!
So, the little L(ower) E(ast) S(ide) that could!! Our big event tonight, the Lower East Side Shop Night, has gotten picked up by a slew of different outlets and I’m thrilled! I feel like I should post them separately, but it’s a busy one today and my trunk show designers are going to be here in a few hours for set up. You’ll just have to settle for one post and lots of links!;)
We love Jessica at Metromix - she’ thorough, knows what she likes and is a super sweetheart! Check out her review at Metromix.
The folks at racked are fans of the contribution to the Lower East Side Girls Club and so are we. Check out the Racked.com listing.
Getting a listing with the NY Times Urban Eye is no small change… writer Melena Ryzik knows what’s up in NY! Check out tonight’s shopping night in today’s Urban Eye.
Happy Reading;)
Check out this week’s Time Out New York and you’ll see a listing for the big ol’ Lower East Side Shop night that we’re all so excited about! They listed it as from Houston to Rivington, but it’s actually Houston all the way to Hester - Orchard all the way to Attorney. We’ve got a big range and lots of great stuff happening! For more info on the event, click here. Scroll down for the TONY image.
Another, ‘wow, people do actually read the blog’ moment;). I just found a link to tomorrow’s event through LoHo10002. Thanks guys! The events came about through conversations between a few of the local shop owners here on the LES. It grew from about 7 locations to 19 and we’re so excited to see how it all goes tomorrow!!

Lower East Side shop night, 9/20. We have no idea whose idea this is, but it sounds good. Falls on a Thursday, before Yom Kippur, ideal for the spiritually mercantile. As a part of the Lower East Side shop night, Clarabella will be host to three gorgeous designers: Kristen Aronsson (bags), Nicole Gagne of Leoworks (jewelry) and Page Sargisson (jewelry), offering the very best of their collections at roughly 25% off normal retail, plus the lure of 10% off all other items in the shop for one night only. (Clarabella NYC)

Some of you have met my friend Annie, some of you have just heard of her cause, you know, she’s pretty famous. Not only does she have her own book, Happy Birthday or Whatever, she’s also caused a stir in the architectural world with a somewhat controversial letter, which then led her to sang a spot as blogger for Emeco. They have super fancy chairs that are clearly awesome. I know this because Annie told me. I speak, of course, of Annie Choi.
Check out her site here: annietown
Read her letter to architects here: Pidgin
Check out her latest blog for Emeco here: Emeco
Now turn off your computer and come buy her book at Clarabella;).
