Headed to the North Country!

My last little announcement before I jump in a snow-weather appropriate Subaru and allow myself to be whisked away to Mt. Snow in VT. I will be closing up shop tonight at 6pm. The shop will be open normal hours all weekend, but you won’t see me back here until Tuesday! Four whole days of vacation - I MUST be dreaming;). I will miss you all dearly. I hope that my absence doesn’t discourage you from coming by the shop. I will have two fabulous women tending shop this weekend. If you’re a regular, you’ve maybe met them both.

On Friday and Sunday we have the stunning Ms. Michael Robinson. Michael has been working here at the shop on various Fridays and Sundays for quite some time now. She came to this fair city a few years back all the way from Austin, TX. You’ll know her because her hair always looks fabulous (she’s an incredible colorist) and she’s got that perfect hint of a Southern accent. If you just love seeing Michael here and can’t get enough, you might want to book an appointment with her over at Antonio Prieto Salon. Michael is there Tuesday - Thursday and Saturday. If it’s a cut you’re looking for, not a color, she can surely recommend an equally talented hair stylist for you. I should know, I just started going there too! As do at least 4 (maybe more) of my other friends. Check out the salon here and come see Michael on Friday and Sunday!

On Saturday, we have none other than the fabulous Ms. Sean Newcott! You’ll remember Sean from last summer. She was in here from time to time, helping me out so that I could take what I like to call ’sanity days’. What not many people know (hopefully Sean doesn’t mind me saying so) is that I’ve known Sean since she was about 9 years old. She is the daughter of a former colleague of mine and I remember her coming by the office when she was still a little one fascinated by book-binding and things of the like. She is now a gorgeous young woman with a better sense of style than you’ll ever see on me;). Come on by to say hi to Sean on Saturday.

And then… come back Tuesday for your regular ‘Erin-fix’. I promise you’ll I’ll be here with a big post-vacation, I-just-skied-for-4-days-straight smile on my face:).

Till then,
Erin

The time is Wright

Hello readers:) Now, I don’t want to alarm you, or prompt you to start lining up outside Clarabella’s front door right now, but we are now at the 10 day countdown until Mr. Wright himself will occupy this sassy little leopard print stool. That’s right… for one day only, you’ll have the distinct pleasure of being helped by the dashing Mr. Wright.
Buying Accessories from Dave isn’t something you can do just every day. It’s one day only and I guarantee you won’t want to miss it. This is a man who volunteers with NY Cares every year. A man who claims former shoe salesman fame. A man who traveled all the way from the Bay Area to attend lil’ ol’ Colby College in Maine, who then left Maine in the dust to settle in this fabulous city of ours. A man who will smile at you when you enter the store and tell you that yes you look fabulous in that necklace and of course knee high black boots are slimming.

So, let’s review. Where will you be on Saturday, February 9 between noon and 6pm? That’s right… You’ll be right here at Clarabella with Mr. Wright. Who can argue with that?

HAPPY SHOPPING!!

Time to Disco

Not in the ‘Stayin’ Alive shake your finger around’ way… in the cutest, most lovable dog on the Lower East Side way;). I’m dog-sitting this weekend for my friend Mike. He’s headed out of town and since his pup is roughly 60 pounds, it doesn’t really work to take him along for the plane-ride. Enter me. Mike lives around the corner from the shop, so it’s actually a win-win situation. He gets a dog-sitter, I get to live around the corner from the shop for the weekend and hang out with this cutey:

Just try to resist coming to visit us this weekend! I dare you! Disco will be hanging with me in the shop on Friday and Saturday, so come on by and meet the puppy legend;).

be a Warrior

Or at least buy one at Clarabella;). Not yet, of course, but the Faryl Robin Spring/Summer line is coming soon. The predicted front runner? The Warrior.

Check it out!!

Talk of the town…

Well, I babble on this site all the time. I think you’re never left wondering what I have to say, what I’m listening to, or what I’m in love with right now. If you’ve been a follower for a while, thank you;). If you’re new, thank you too. I thought I’d give you all a little recap of what some other people have to say about Clarabella. If the recommendations of others sway you, maybe I’ll see you soon!!

Guest Shop-Tending

You’ve heard of guest bartending… a person who doesn’t actually work at the bar poses as a guest bartender for an evening, theoretically bringing in new business to the establishment and giving a non-bar person a chance to let his or her bartender colors shine through. Well… the same idea can also apply to shops. This isn’t the hiring of a new employee. This is passing the shop-tender torch to someone who normally wouldn’t be found working here. I’ve done this once before. Back in April of last year, only a few days after opening, I had to attend a family event. My friend Edward Scott was kind enough to come in for a little training and he manned the shop for a full day. He greeted the ladies in need of shoes and jewelry, answered questions and proudly sat in the leopard print chair. For the first month or more of being open, Mr. Scott held the sales record, edging even me, the shop-owner, out of numero uno positioning. I’ve had other friends man the shop since then, usually as a favor, but never really for a full day (among them are Cris Haskell and Annie Choi.)

Never one to turn down a challenge, Mr. David Wright has stepped up to the plate. He requested to be the next guest shop-tender, vowing first to break Mr. Scott’s record and then to actually break mine. The actual figure isn’t as relevant as who holds the record. Mr. Wright hails from the West, SF to be exact, migrating East for his college years at Colby (also my alma-mater) and then settled in grand ol’ NYC. He’s been here for over 10 years now but he’s still a young buck. He’s highly fashionable and is just as likely to be seen at a high fallutin’ charity event as at his local watering hole. I happen to know that he enjoys a good game of tennis and works in the world of finance for his day job. Stay tuned as the count down begins… I’ll be revealing more information about Mr. Wright as the date approaches. Get ready, get set… to see Mr. Wright grace the leopard print chair on Saturday, Feb. 9. Mark your calendars and make sure to come by to watch the magic in action.

[ps - I have it on good authority that Mr. Scott might have a little extra time these days. He should most certainly see this event as a challenge and make it a point to come back and fight for his record-holding title!]
