For those who remember when I first started this little shop of mine… remember when I got SO excited about the very first shoe shipment I received from Tashkent by Cheyenne? Look how far I’ve come;)

I’m ready for you - come and see me:)
As if I wasn’t already giddy enough, a slew of additional listings came through today which proves that everyone really does love a sale! More Refinery love, More NoGoodForMe love, More Metromix love and more Racked love. I’m so full of love right now, I just might burst. And I like it. Check ‘em out and for pete’s sake, come to the sale tomorrow… stay tuned for another post with a quick look at what the shop will look like at opening tomorrow at noon. Dang we’ve got lots of shoes!!

I’m still just as giddy as I was this morning when I first checked my email. I’ve shared this with many of you already, but I’ve got to share it again… Clarabella got a Daily Candy listing today!! This is the moment where I kick up my heels, jump up and down, dance around the room a little and maybe do one of those ‘I’m Excited’ squeals. In case you’re not sure what kind of impact a listing like Daily Candy has, my website’s number of unique viewers went up to 2745 today from yesterday’s 189. I think my previous record high may have been 500… not even close to today. I’ve been watching the count and squealing all over again every time I see the numbers jump.
To my new readers, WELCOME! And thank you for taking the leap and clicking on that little link today. I hope I’ll be seeing all of you tomorrow at the big sale! I’m armed with a room full of shoes, just for you!
If you didn’t get to see the listing today, you can check it out right here or you can scroll down for my little listing.

If the fashion blogosphere were like high school, nogoodforme.com would’ve started out like that quiet girl who sat in the back of class, doing her homework and her own thing while doodling Smiths and Cure lyrics on her folder and drawling the occasional smart-alecky comment, kind of like Daria Morgendorfer back in the day. (Curious aside: when the hell are they going to get “Daria” on DVD, man?) These days, though, I feel like we’ve hit that phase where we’re applying to college and doing all sorts of crazy extracurriculars that make car pooling a nightmare and keeps us working at all odd hours and then some. We’re way busy, especially since we’re busting our arses for our Spirit Animal House party. (COME! BUY A RAFFLE TICKET!) But we’ve also got other special events in the pipeline that we’ve been itching to tell you about. Which is why we are totally stoked, excited, ripped, and full of beans to announce that we are curating a photography show at Clarabella later in the fall! And we are even more amped because WE WANT YOU TO BE IN IT.
Here’s the deal: Send us digital photos of you wearing your favorite item of clothing. It’s really that simple. The picture can be anything you want: simple, glamorous, mundane, artful, abstract, heavily art-directed, utterly plain, humorous, dramatic, goofy, “just a snapshot” or whatever. Let your heart and your eye lead you to what feels right for this little assignment. (Although, please, at least be clothed!)
Send us a digital photo (no higher than 300dpi and about 1500 to 3000 pixels wide should be plenty of image size) to ngfmphotoshow@gmail.com. Give us your name, location (city and state), the name of the item that is your favorite (you know, like “yellow flip-flops” or “my fanciest Balenciaga dress ever.”) And for extra sugar credit, give us a small bit about why it’s your favorite or what happened to you the last time you wore it.
Our only requirements, besides the aforementioned pieces of information, are that it is a photo, and it is a photo that you took (or someone took of you.) In other words, don’t send us ‘professional’ images from a catalog, another website or whatever that are copyrighted by someone else.
We’ll include as many images as we can fit on the walls and in the store, and we may even be ambitious and print up a limited edition catalog. (We’re on the road to overachieverville if we manage that!) This photo call is open until September 15, 2008 and it is open to anyone (dudes and spirit animals included), so please spread the word!
We are excited to see what you lovelies come up with!

If you’re a regular here, you know I just recently got back from a little vacation. A quick jaunt out West. I say quick, but it was really for a full 5 days. In my world, that’s incredibly long. I don’t even get that much time off for holidays or other family gatherings. I try to snatch up 2 - 3 days quickies here and there… so, 5 days was awesome. The thing I always forget about vacation, however, is how much prep is required before I leave and how much catch-up afterwards. I know this isn’t an exclusively Clarabella issue… it was the same in my old job. I usually had a series of work until midnight or 1am night prior to vacation and the same on the back end. So, here I am… Midnight the night before my first full week back. Slightly exhausted, but actually more excited for what’s coming up.
It’s been a slow summer. Ask any shop owner and she’ll likely tell you the same thing. Our country’s economy has seen better days and people may not be as keen to snatch up that new bag or a fancy dress as they were around this time last year. Times have changed and we’re all doing our best to adjust. For some, that means cutting back, making ’safer’ decisions with orders, offering bigger sales. Anything to bring in the business. For Clarabella I suppose it means all of the above. Don’t worry, we’re not going anywhere - this is one stubborn shop owner and I’ll do whatever it takes to keep this dream of mine alive. In an effort to keep that going, I started planning events. Events have always been great for the shop, bringing in new business, giving old friends new reasons to come by and visit. Well, somewhere along the way I may have gotten a little carried away;). It’s going to be a heck of a two week spread, but there are some fantastic events to look forward to. I’m going to be a busy bee, running around, making things happen, but ultimately I think it’s going to benefit everyone involved. Clarabella, you, my co-marketing people. I’ll be announcing more details in the coming week, but for now, get a load of this:
