Charmingwall meets Clarabella
Closing Reception - SATURDAY, JAN. 31 from 7 to 9pm

For more details on the show, please scroll down.

For December and January, Clarabella was host to 14 matted prints from West Village-based gallery, Charmingwall. We wanted to give you an idea of what they had to offer. They’re not *just* a gallery. They also offer high quality prints from many of the artists they’ve represented in the past. You can buy the print solo ($20), matted ($40), or matted and framed ($80). It’s a great way to grab some unique and independent artwork without breaking the bank.
We just love Charmingwall’s taste in artwork and were thrilled to have such a wide range of their works on the wall. We would also recommend going to check out Charmingwall for more. If you’re itching to buy, make sure to use this code: “CBH8″. You’ll not only get the marvelously packaged print that you ordered, you’ll get a free surprise print as well. Charmingwall tells me that it’s a great one!

I’ll be back soon with further details on ALL of these exciting events since I know you’ll all want to be at every single one;). I’m trying to hit the ground running this year… events and sales… maybe stimulate the economy a little;). If you have any suggestions, I’m open to hear them, just drop me a line. A few things already on the books, and guaranteed to be a good time:
January 31 :: Closing Reception for Charming Clarabella (AKA Charmingwall meets Clarabella)
All of the prints currently on display will come down on Sunday, February 1 - what better way to send them off than to bring the good folks at Charmingwall over for a little celebration. A little vino, a little mingling, good art and maybe a discount here and there;).
February 5 :: Artist Reception for Amanda Kavanagh, New Works
Amanda is a Brooklyn based artist. She’s someone I’ve admired for quite a while now and I’m thrilled to have the chance to showcase her work. Amanda’s show will be on display from Feb. 2 through March 31.
February 21-22 :: Clarabella’s 2nd SUPER SHOE SALE!!!
You might remember the first from back in August. That one was only for one-day and it was an absolute mad house. Markdowns ranged from 50 - 80% off and this sale will be no different. It’s clean house time people… I want you to have fabulous shoes for a low low price (and make room for my Spring shoes in the process.) Details to follow!
Proof that people really do love a sale! This weekend’s sample sale has gotten a few great pickups that I couldn’t help but share. A little love from some of my favorite spots:
Thanks for the love everyone and right back atcha;)
We do we do!!
Well, I mentioned the idea of a sample sale at Clarabella a few weeks back. Looks like the sale won’t actually be at Clarabella, but there WILL be a sale. I’m lucky enough to have a fantastic friend (and neighborhood shop-owner) who hooked me up with Dolce Vita for a big Lower East Side Sample Sale this weekend. The sale will feature Dolce Vita, Honey in the Rough, TG-170, Edith Machinist, Maryam Nassir Zadeh and lil’ ol’ Clarabella. We’ll be at the OpenHouse Gallery on Mulberry Street. Check out the invite here, or scroll down for the image.
Wondering what kind of deals you might be getting? Well… I can’t speak for the rest of the shops, but Clarabella will be offering 50 - 75% off shoes, bags and jewelry. Mariana shoes are $60 - $70, boots are $90. Farylrobin shoes and boots are $125 and under. Devotte shoes and boots are $200 and under. Tashkent shoes and boots are $320 and under. ALL are at least 50% off. Bags by Modus, Deere Colhoun, Joshu + Vela, Melanie Dizon, and Lullabella are 50% off. Jewelry by Judith Haas, Beth Lauren, Nugaard Designs, Tamaura, Page Sargisson and Zoe Chicco is 50% off. You really just can’t go wrong;).

Music, as you know, is a very VERY important piece of my life. Always looking for something new, always listening… A comment on Facebook (yes… I know. Ugh.) the other day prompted a conversation with friends about a few new talents. Bon Iver was a name that popped up, and in response, my friend Jake sent over a review and video that he made of a live show down in his own Philly. I couldn’t help but share his review opener with all of you because it really spoke to me. If you want to read the full review, you can check it out here. That link will also take you to the video with live footage from the reviewed show. Pretty cool stuff. That said… read on:
We live in uncertain and tumultuous times. Life’s daily struggles are getting more serious as economic blows are met with growing anxiety. A bittersweet holiday season has dug its claws into the country as friends around us are losing their jobs. That knowledge can weigh down one’s thoughts with an unsettling touch of gloom. It is during these moments that we turn to music as a form of stability and comfort, reminding us that we are not traveling life’s crooked path alone. - Jake Krolick, Jambase.com
Clarabella loves flowers. I love flowers. There is something about getting flowers that is just amazing. That surprising moment when the flower delivery guy stops in front your door and actually comes in. Talk about inspiring a smile. And talk about starting the New Year out right! Three cheers for flowers and many thanks to my good friend who sent them. You brought a big smile to my face today and that means everything!
Hello my lovelies… I know I still owe you my New Year’s post. I’ve been in denial that vacation is over and am slowly pulling myself back into the world of Clarabella. I will be sending along my New Year’s thoughts very very soon, but in the meantime, I wanted to share some news!!
I’ve just heard from Nicole Gagne of Leoworks (beloved jewelry designer and good friend) that she will be offering new jewelry classes this season. In the past we’ve offered these classes right here at Clarabella, but have since decided that it makes far more sense for Nicole to share her skills at her studio where more space, actual workstations and plenty of fun tools are clearly a benefit. Nicole teaches classes in Lost Wax Casting, Earring Construction, and Introduction to Jewelry Design. For those who have taken the classes before, there is much more to be learned and for you newbies, now is the time to take the leap. I first met Nicole through a jewelry class a little over 2 years ago and she’s a wonderful teacher. Extremely patient with the ability to break down a process so that it actually makes sense. All that said, check out the Leoworks Classes page for more information about all classes available or just take a peek at the lineup below. If you’re interested, email Nicole at nicole@leoworks.com.
Classes:
All classes will have 2 instructors on hand and be limited to 6 people. Classes will be held in Leoworks’ fully equipped jewelry studio in Long Island City, Queens; one stop from Manhattan. All reservations need to be secured with a credit card.

Things I was thinking at this time last year… I may not have accomplished everything I set out to, but now we’ve got a new year and a clean slate.
Stay tuned for 2009’s list. I have just as much to be thankful for and plan to remind myself of that daily;).
Hope you’re all enjoying this year of new beginnings.
