Hope to see you there!!
For those of you who aren’t familiar, Hayden & Hartnett is a fabulous Brooklyn based design team. I first learned of them through their gorgeous leather bags, but they’re quite known for their clothing and shoe lines as well. Being a bit guilty of overusing social media, I’m hooked into them on both Twitter and Facebook and heard little rumblings about a new fashion series for the Spring/Summer season. IRL (AKA - In Real Life) aims to give staffers, friends, family and fans a chance to style themselves from head toe in pieces from the HH Design Shop. Their IRL issues are posted every Wednesday and shoppers are given access to a 15% off discount on any items selected by that week’s IRL gals. Fun, right?

The Hayden & Harnett Greenpoint Shop
Well, this lil’ ol’ shopgirl thought the IRL series would be a fun thing to do. I hadn’t yet gotten the chance to check out HH’s Greenpoint hub (a quick bikeride from my lovely Willamsburg apartment) and they had an opening for this week. I met Mimi and Christiane @ noon and they helped me pick out a few pieces and egged me on a bit. Both gals were super sweet, helpful and just generally lovely. It was a blast to walk around the shop and pick out pieces to flaunt. I ended up with the Thea dress, the Iskia wedges, the Athena Sac, a ring, a necklace and a leather wristband. If you’re feeling motivated, go check out the shop here. Otherwise, you can wait until tomorrow to check out the full look with links to buy and everything.
I’m typically a little wary of photographs of myself and usually like to have ‘veto’ power, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that tomorrow’s IRL will showcase a lovely and not too shiny from the 90 degree weather Erin;). Updates tomorrow!!
Hi all -
Some actual good news!! My beloved cousin Tara had a little baby girl today:). SO excited!! Mom and baby are happy and healthy and (faux) auntie is going to be even happier tomorrow when she treks back to the Jersey shore to meet the new member of the family. That’s me, of course. I’m taking the super early train out of town tomorrow and wasn’t able to get someone to open up shop until about 4:30 tomorrow. So come, do your evening shopping and please accept my apologies if you come by during the day to find the grates down. I’ll be back for normal hours on Friday (or the lovely Natalie will be here).
Again, for tomorrow, April 23:
Operating hours are from 4:30 - 8pm.
Thanks!!
x
Another note for Maddie…
I know I’ve posted about this before, but I’m going to put it out there once again to try to build some support this weekend. Please take a moment to read.
In a very sad turn of events, Heather and Mike Spohr lost their 17-month old daughter, Madeline, on April 7. Maddie was really a miracle baby. Born at only 27 weeks, she spent the first 2 1/2 months of her life in the NICU. The story is pretty remarkable and Maddie overcame a tremendous amount to eventually go home with her parents and go on to enjoy normal little girl things like playing with her beloved pup, Rigby, dressing up in pretty clothes, playing with mommy and daddy and making new friends everywhere she went with her stunningly gorgeous eyes and smile. Heather started blogging about her experience while she was still on bed rest and developed quite a following. She told stories of the struggles, but also stories of the good times. A few posts are below if you’re curious, or you can just go to Remember Maddie.
Anyway, I’m telling you all of this because a group of friends and I are walking in the March of Dimes walk in Maddie’s honor this weekend. Heather and Mike walked in theirs out in LA and raised over $30,000 in their daughter’s honor. March of Dimes helps babies like Maddie and their families. I’m not reaching out to fundraise, more just to invite you to walk with us on Sunday morning. It’s going to be a lovely day and I’m hoping we’ll have a big NY crowd to honor Maddie. If you think you’d like to join in, go here and sign up I’ll be sending out an email with meetup details on Friday or Saturday. No worries if you can’t join us. I hope that you’ll find some inspiration in Maddie’s story all the same. Even in her passing she’s managed to touch thousands of lives. Like I said – she was nothing short of remarkable.

I’ve never actually been to Coachella… even in the old music biz days. I had a fair number of friends attend this year. I’ve always heard about what a blast it is and can only imagine that it was even better this year with the April weather instead of the blistering May sunshine. I haven’t heard all of the reports yet, but I’ve been thinking about it a bit this week. Checking out music blog posts, etc… In the spirit of searching out new music, I thought to put together my “If I’d gone to Coachella” line-up. It was a pretty impressive artist roster. Enjoy!! It’s really true:)! Clarabella has been open for two whole years! So, a rousing HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I opened Clarabella’s doors on April 19, 2007 after a fantastic and challenging 4 month renovation process. New to the shop and the site? Check out the slideshow for the before, during and after images. You’ll be shocked by how different it looked before I got here! This has been a remarkable journey and I’m hoping for many years to come.
I didn’t spring for the big bash this year like I did in ‘08, but you’ll be happy to know that we’re celebrating in other ways. From now until next Sunday, April 26, all Spring Shoes are 20% off! Remember those awesome Tashkent beauties that were already marked down $100? Well, they’re an additional 20% off! AND, all of the Farylrobins and Marianas are also 20% off. It’s truly fabulous! So… come celebrate with us and treat your tootsies to some new shoes.

ps - closing today at 5pm to give this shopgirl a chance to visit with her cousin who is two weeks away from having a second baby girl!! Tara, Amanda and Tom, here I come:)
But it’s not here… I know - sorry! We’ll have one here soon:)
Please go and support Nicole Gagne and Leoworks at today’s

Now GO!!
So… you all know how much I loooove getting shoes at the shop. It’s been that way since the beginning. I’m like a little kid in a candy store… I want to try everything. You watched me do it with the Spring Tashkent arrivals and rest assured, I tried on each and every one of the new Marianas and the lone little pair of Farylrobins. I couldn’t possibly pick just one, so if someone said “hey Erin, go crazy… buy whatever you want”, I’d probably start with the Trixie and the Elaine. Then I’d move to the Cassie and maybe I’d even take the Renas out for a spin. If I know some of you (and I certainly do) I know you’ll feel the same. It’s gonna be a gorgeous weekend, so treat yourself. Come on down and try on a few of these beauties. Maybe you’ll want to adopt one (or two;)).

Another late night song post. I just heard this one and it’s definitely speaking to my mood. I’m trying to be hopeful, to look forward and believe. Miranda Lee Richards has a beautiful voice and it does wonders to convey these lyrics. Have a listen if you’ve got a moment. You won’t be disappointed.
