Renegade Craft Fair (+ delayed opening on Sunday)

It’s that time of year again! The time when talented and amazing craftspeople, designers, jewelers, musicians, knitters and all around lovely people convene in Williamsburg for the Renegade Craft Fair. I’m sad to say that I didn’t make it last year, but I did go 2 years ago while it was still in McCarren Park. That’s actually where I first saw bag designer, Kristen Aronsson. Lucky for me (and for Clarabella) I held onto her card!

This year the fair is at McCarren Park Pool. For those who think that Williamsburg is a foreign country, or have strange aversions to trekking to Brooklyn (I know you’re out there - I’m friends with some of you!), Williamsburg is only a short train ride from the island of Manhattan. Just head to 14th street and jump on the L train (at 8th ave, 6th ave, union sq., 3rd ave and 1st ave). Take the L to Bedford, the first stop in Brooklyn. Stay near the front of the train and exit at Driggs Ave. Once on the street, note the direction of traffic and walk against it. That will take you North. Keep walking until you hit Lorimer and take a right on Lorimer. The entrance to the pool is between Driggs and Bayard on Lorimer. Fun, easy, you won’t regret it! Click here for a map.
My anticipated favorites for this year?

Alyssa Ettinger

The Black Apple

Gemma Redux

Helge New York

Ida Pearle

Jezebel

Matt Daly

Supermaggie!

and last but not least, Clarabella’s very own Nam Kim

All that said, I could come back with totally different favorites! I’m hoping to make it over there when it opens at 11. Tomorrow is a busy day. I’m running a 5 miles race in the morning, hitting up the craft fair, racing to the shop and then leaving early for some much needed home improvements. For thost that have made it this far, it’s very likely I’ll only be open between 1 and 6 tomorrow. See you soon!!
