Me Char
Charmaine Ho spotted me as a buyer at a showroom she used to work with. She held onto my name and hunted me down after she left. She’s been working on her own handbag line and is currently selling them on consignment here at the shop. Bright colors, fun shapes, perfect for Summer!

Born in a small but metropolitan town, Charmaine Ho, the designer behind “Me Char”, was a mix of East Meets West. Charmaine was born in Hong Kong and received her education overseas both in North America and Europe. She has lived in several countries such as Czech Republic, UK, Italy and Switzerland, and her previous European experiences broadened her perspective greatly and began to kindle her love for fashion. Charmaine has once said, “My love for fashion began very early, ever since I was able to crawl in front of the mirror when my mother put on nice clothes. But, the idea of designing my own line really began when I got in touch with the fashion world in Italy.” Her inspirations are both East meets West and Hard meets soft. Charmaine claims that she has the fondness on the extremes and the combination of the extremes. She likes to play with the hard and soft boundaries in terms of structure and color contrast, and she also says that her clutches are more “unisex”, although they are designed for women to carry. “Boyfriends can carry my clutches for their girlfriend and would still look like a guy, unlike many designer monogram clutches/purses that are so feminine and just would not go with a guy,” Charmaine laughs. Charmaine has just graduated from NYU and is currently taking classes at the Grad School of Parsons The New School of Designs. Charmaine has recently won the Best Student Made Handbag Design Award at the Independent Handbag Designer 101 contest held in NYC on June 20, 2007.
